We start our trip in Cape Town. Meet
your fellow travellers and be our guest at a Welcome Drink and Dinner in
the evening. |
On our first day on the
road we travel around Cape Peninsula, passing
the playground of the rich and famous along the coast out to
the rocky promontory of Cape Point (Cape Of Good Hope).
We visit Cape Point Nature Reserve before continuing to Simon’s
Town, where you will see African penguins at Boulders Beach.
From here we head back to Cape Town via the spectacular Ou Kaapse Weg
Pass through the thick forests of Tokai and Constantia
and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Tuesday, Day 3 |
Cape L'Agulhas |

We leave Cape Town for an
exhilarating and spectacular drive around False Bay via Gordens
Bay and Betty’s Bay, and on to the historic coastal resort of
Hermanus for lunch. We continue past rolling wheat fields on to
Cape L’Agulhas, where we visit the southern most point of Africa.
Today is a cruising day to the
picturesque town of Swllinghdam and then through the rugged
Tradouw Pass, which crosses the Langeberg range of mountains. We then
travel through the arid Little Karoo region, where ostriches and
tobacco farming are the main occupations. We pass Oudtshoorn and
leave the Little Karoo via the Outeniqua Pass, which brings us back
to the coastal plains on to the famous Garden Route and our
overnight destination for today,
Knysna. |

In the morning we take the steam train that skirts
the coast on an amazing route to George, and in the afternoon we
visit the Blue Hills Wildlife Park to see buffalo, rhino, giraffes,
zebras, kudus, and maybe even leopards. Alternatively, you can just rest at the
resort’s swimming pool or on the beach. |

After an early start, we continue our trip along the
Garden Route, passing through the Tsitsikamma Forest,
Grootrivier Pass, and Bloukrans Pass, as well as the town of Port
Elisabeth. Turning inland, we encounter typical African bush country with
huge thorn trees before arriving in Addo just in time for dinner and an
Addo Elephant National Park Safari.
Saturday, Day 7 |
Graaf-Reinet |
We travel further inland through Olifantskop Pass
and enjoy magnificent roads with hardly any traffic in remote African country.
We pass through the frontier towns of Cookhouse and Cradock before
crossing the Sneeuberg (Snow Mountain) and finally ending up in the
historic town of Graaff-Reinet, where we watch the sun set over the
Great Karoo – an experience never to be forgotten. |
On Day 8 we pass through the endless flat plains of
the Karoo on our way to the ostrich capital of the world, Oudtshoorn. |

Today is a rest day in Oudtshoorn. You may
wish to explore locally and visit the famous Cango Caves or the Cango
Wildlife Farm, a breeding station for cheetahs, lions, tigers, crocodiles,
and alligators. |
We recross the Little
Karoo through wild and rugged country, passing through Calitzdorp,
Ladysmith, and Barrydale before arrivinge in the Western
Cape at Montagu, an attractive spa town with natural hot water
springs hidden in a mountain cleft. While here, we visit the Joubert
House Museum, which provides a view of life in the area in the 19th
century. |
Wednesday, Day 11 |
Montagu |
We spend the day travelling the 7 Passes
Route, which climbs up to 4000 meters (13,123 feet) and the local ski
club. |
Thursday, Day 12 |
Cape Town |

On our last day, we travel
back to Cape Town.
In the evening we meet up to reminisce at our Farewell Dinner.
